Are we just talking about graphic design or design as a whole including interface design (more important)? If the interface design is bad then it’s unusable and the graphic design means nothing. Good looks gets you to try the thing and good sounds (in this case) and work flow gets you to buy the thing. If I have to rotate a dial to get to different pages of functionality I’d be annoyed. So nice graphic design but it’s lipstick on a chicken if you ask me. What impresses me more is when graphic design implies the functionality. Not so difficult for a synth. But I don’t even see a wave form here!

Great artistic detail, meticulous attention to texture and light almost gives it the tactility of the real thing.

Someone back the man to build the thing and then the user experience can be crafted to the same level of perfection! ;)

It’s beautiful…but honestly? If the new hotness in touch interface is to reproduce analog designs, what’s the point? This isn’t design — it’s production — with nice polish.

The scale of analog equipment faces was directly related to the wiring required to make the magic happen. It was a physical limitation.

I agree it looks nice. But definitely NOT a step forward for design.

How does it sound?

Looks like there isn’t a landscape mode, but for iPad it’s a good idea (per iOS Human Interface Guidelines).

This is pointless skeuomorphism at its worst.

WTF does the vacuum tube do? It looks like pointless decoration to me. And really, you actually have to connect stuff with jacks, like a physical analog synth?

All your attempts to make the synth look retro only enforce physical limitations of old synthesizers that aren’t present in software synths. And stuff like the vacuum tube distracts the user with worthless eye candy.

This design is terrible and you should be ashamed for making it.
